Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the final table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors around the world. While participating in net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is broke, he has no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world might just be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha hold’em and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
